Zornheym – The Opposed

The Opposed is the first released single from the upcoming debut album of Swedish quintet Zornheym. The band consist of former members of several well-established bands, the most noticeable of which being Zorn from Dark Funeral. And while he definitely brought much of his experience with him (Zornheym is, at its core, a Black Metal band), the band as a whole has admitted to drawing a lot of inspiration from other acts such as Dimmu Borgir, King Diamond and Dissection. This has caused the overall sound to be far less rough and distorted, instead focusing heavily on creating a very symphonic, almost epic sound. This succeeds spectacularly, overall turning the single ”The Opposed” into a four minutes and forty-one seconds long assault upon the listeners eardrums. Sure, Zornheym is a far stretch away from before-mentioned Dark Funeral (which I believe is the general idea), but they will nonetheless find a lot of fame in their own right. That I can almost guarantee. The upcoming album from which ”The Opposed” will also appear will be entitled Where Hatred Dwells and Darkness Reigns and will be released today (4^th of November) also through Non Serviam records. If you are a fan of Symphonic Black Metal in the vein of early Dimmu Borgir, Zornheym is a band for you. At any rate give the single a spin. It is short, catchy and relentless; And it can be found below. If you like epic melodies and tales of woe and destruction (in this case, relating to the mind), then you will not be disappointed.
