Witchfuck – Disgusting Rock’n’Roll

This is going to be a relatively quick review since we are dealing with four-tracker MCD. But first a few words on the artist; Witchfuck (took their name from the track “Witchfuck” off of the 1994 self-titled offering by Sweden’s Nifelheim) is a Polish band formed by a friends from several metal bands devoted to underground playing old-school metal. The band was founded in 2017 where they emerged from the moldy tombs of infernal desolation. Since then they’ve released an EP, three splits with bands such as Necrosadist and Culto Negro, and 2021 debut full-length, Black Blood Baptism.

Disgusting Rock’n’Roll is their debut, released through the polish independent extreme metal label Old Temple. What we can hear here are four tracks, much in the black/thrash metal style, released on a gold CD, all copies hand-numbered.

The tracklist conveys the same vibes as their name, offering pure blackened thrash ‘n’ roll sonic assault. Speaking of the sound, Disgusting Rock’n’Roll sounds rather primitive and raw, but that’s done on purpose. Four tracks from Disgusting Rock’n’Roll are powerful, aggressive, raw and varied with some additional (early) punk and (post) black metal influences. Despite of the fact that there’re numerous filthy blast beats, punding drums, evil & attention-grabbing hooks and finally some angry, anguished and alcohol-drained vocals, there’re also some calm, tranquil and almost charming moments to be heard here. Atmosphere is thundering, intense and suffocating, creating beautiful soundscapes. The lyrics are packed with evil, dealing with blasphemy, sex, violence, alcohol and partying. Cover art is gleaming, and it ties in beautifully with the rest of the album’s content.

To conclude this mini-album; ticking in at just over thirteen minutes Disgusting Rock’n’Roll checks all the boxes for a well put together thrashy blackened metal album. Thus; Disgusting Rock’n’Roll is interesting and refined MCD and can be compared to acts like Satyricon, Celtic Frost, Venom, Darkthrone, Hellhammer, Sodom, Sarcófago and of course aforementioned Nifelheim.
