Vyr Muk is a Ukrainian Blackened Death Metal solo act, one that sprang into existance not long after the emergence of the current troubles in his native country. As such, it delves deep into themes of suffering, struggles of the common man as well as the ongoing conflict as a whole – All of which is both understandable since it would serve as a backdrop to nearly all aspects of the musicians everyday life, while at the same time also adding a very distinct and clear level of frustration and anger into both the lyrics and performance. And as a man who strongly associate and relate to all types of creative media (music in particular) through strong emotional responses, this caused Crimson Fields Of Sorrow to immediately strike a chord with me. And the fact that this is the eight album released since the bands inception I will admit to being both impressed by the work ethic possessed by this artist as well as note that it clearly comes across when listening to this release – The experience that has been learned and succesfully implemented is on full display.

Overall the record (the first Full-length to be released since the band was formed two years ago) contains five tracks, delivered expertly so in their native Ukrainian while interweaved with a powerful emotional resonance, as mentioned above. Said resonance carries throughout the entire near-thirty-three minutes worth of playtime, tone set by the vocal tracks and kept aloft by the relentless drums, chopping guitar riffs and haunting keyboards that would not be completely out of place in a project far more ambient than this: Something the artist behind the moniker Vyr Muk even acknowledges themselves. All in all one of those rare perfect examples where the mixture of two or more genres manages to blend together seamlessly and create something not quite the sum of its parts yet should still appeal to fans of their roots. Which is probably the highest praise I can give the album, given my normal disdain for such practices. Nevertheless, I digress.

Recommended to fans of God Dethroned and Behemoth – As evidenced below, through the playlist systematically going through the entire album on YouTube. Enjoy.
