9th April 2025Tria Prima – Three Primes Of Alchemy

Label: Unsigned / Release Date: 12th January 2025
Tria Prima – Latin for ‘First Three’ – Is the chosen moniker for three Ukranian musicians who have recently thrown their abilities together in order to create their vision of what modern Melodic Death Metal sounds like. In doing so they released a Single late last year (the same year the band for officially formed) and the very next month (the first month of the current year), said Single was joined by three other tracks in order to release the EP Three Primes Of Alchemy.
The band themselves classify their music as Death Metal fused together with elements of Doom and Dungeon Synth; Personally I trace very little of the former on tracks such as ”Solar Sulfur” but quite a bit of the latter across the board (albeit less so on their cover of the Asphyx track ”Deathhammer”).
Overall, Tria Prima has managed to put together four rather unique tracks adding up to nearly twenty minutes worth of runtime – In many ways I would consider the EP more Dungeon Synth than traditional Black Metal, something I attribute to the very noticeable way the band use their keyboard – Tuning, use of sound effects and the overall dominant influence it has on the sound overall with it taking centre stage over the simple, repeating guitar riffs as well as theever-changing whims of the drums. The vocals take an equally interesting approach, falling somewhere inbetween a growl and a low, bass-inspired hum. All in all I would say that Tria Prima is both something singularly new and innovative – Definitely a must-see for the Progressive fans of the world.
Tentatively recommended for fans of Bal-Sagoth and the like.
