Founded in 2022, Onslaught Kommand is a four-piece combo from Chile. Line-up consists of; Necromancer (guitars), Behemot (guitars), SplatterHate (bass & vocals) and Cvnthvnt (drums). A few months ago this Chilean quartet released their latest full-length, Malignancy via Godz Ov War Productions. It hails less than a year after the release of their Visions of Blood and Gore EP. It was basically first time I’ve come across and noticed the band.

Malignancy consists of 14 relatively short tracks, where the opener “Elite Hunting Gore” is the longest, yet not reaching a three-minute mark. If it wasn’t enough of a hint, then I can tell that these guys are playing what I would call a ‘blackened/grind death metal’. Overall, the vocals are deep, nasty and guttural and often with a fine contrasts between growls and screams. The guitars have a gruff and groovy tone to them, delivering some distorted riffs and some blistering solos along the way. Drums are hellish and blasting, and surprisingly clear and ‘heavy in the mix’ bass work. There’re some abrupt and unexpected tempo changes on this 32 minutes long sonic assault from Onslaught Kommand.

My favourite tracks from Malignancy are; the aforementioned opener “Elite Hunting Gore”, due to the crushing rhythm section, then “Satanic Storming” which brings forth an old-school death metal intensity with some furious and crushing riffing, and finally a track called – “Carbonized At The Lynching Tree” which opens with a crushing battery of alternating snares and bass drum before switching over to a rapid-fire thrash-style riffs.

The production is organic, rough, filthy and putrid, while featuring some noisy tunes and ditto sounds. The titles are equally vile and the album art twisted, disgusting and visceral, depicting a slaughterhouse scene. If you love extreme music at its most natural form, the black/death/grind/thrash work of this Chilean quartet is something for you. Malignancy is here to brutalize your ears and melt your brain!
