Arkhon Infaustus – Passing the Nekromanteion
16th October 2017Psychedelic Witchcraft – Sound of the Wind
23rd October 2017Les Acteurs de l’Ombre – Sampler MMXVII
Label: Les Acteurs de l'Ombre / Release Date: 8th June 2017
The Sampler CD’s seem to be a recurring annual release, produced and distributed with the express purpose of promoting as well as showcasing the new albums that have been released under the Les Acteurs de l’Ombre banner. As such, Sampler MMXVII serves as a compilation on nine Singles, one from each of nine different records that were released throughout this soon to be bygone year.
Now, I will not go into too much detail about every last track, nor how they compare to one another, mostly because a fairly big amount of releases represented by this Compilation has already gone through our eager fingers here at Metal Revolution (I myself had the distinct pleasure of giving both Au-Dessus, Arkhon Infaustus and Heir a spin), so I will instead compliment the concept of advertising for bands in such a clear and time-honoured fasshion.
On another note, this approach also serves as an excellent reminder of what Les Acteurs de l’Ombre has to offer as a record label. As far as I have been able to gather, their primary focus is on the more atmospheric and emotionally-influenced versions of Black Metal – Something that this Sampler showcases extremely well.
By no means a fully constructed album (but then again, that was never the point), but a great way to spend the better part of an hour.
