Kill The Lord – Decrowned II: Trinity Ablaze

Originally released as split 12‘‘ LP containing 3 songs from the first and only Fessus demo Pilgrims Of Morbidity and 4 songs from Kill The Lord. You can hear the whole split LP below, but from now I will only focus on these four songs from Kill The Lord. The band is comprised of Andreas Kaufmann (vocals), Eddy Langner (guitars & bass) and Dirk Törppe (drums).

Decrowned II: Trinity Ablaze is their first official release, where this German trio performs death metal heavily inspired by Swedish masterpieces from the 90s. This particular digipak CD features the two titles from the Decrowned demo and two brand-new songs.

What we get to hear here is a real visceral and sonic assault of uncompromising old-school death metal. Song structures to times are chaotic, but it’s not a bad thing when dealing with the piece of old-school death metal. Vocals are extreme in the sense of delivery, as they sound harsh and growling, but with some spoken elements interspersed as well. The guitar tone is nasty/chainsaw as it sounds like a chainsaw cutting a swathe through decaying corpses. Some really strong bass textures, (and a cool little bass interlude at the end of “Food For Worms”) is also something one can hear on this just 15-minutes long CD. Blastbeat and hellish drumming is the last ingredient that complete and round well their sound. Because of the short nature of this CD there is no room for boredom, one feels one feels entertained and engaged from start to the end.

The beautiful and very detailed album artwork is done by Thomas ‘Necromaniac’ Westphal. This ‘new’ cover lends itself to the overall presentation and vibe of this release. With a crushing and raw production (mastered by Dan Swanö at ‘Unisound’) Decrowned II: Trinity Ablaze will leave any old-school death metal adherent thirsting for more. Especially recommended for fans of Entombed, Autopsy, Dismember, Necrophagia and similar old-school death metal essential acts.
