Death Storms is one of the older albums released by premier Mexican-based label Iron, Blood And Death Corporation in summer of 2023. It’s a third album by Swedish one-man army going under the moniker of Human Harvest.

Swedish mastermind Jonny Pettersson (Wombbath, Rotpit, Heads For The Dead, Massacre) is the axe man as he’s recorded, mixed and mastered everything at ‘Studio Unbound’. It is notorious and remarkable to see that Petterson handles all instruments very convincing, even with the drum programming, which feels organic.

In 2024 he released a follow-up to the album that I’m presenting to you here, entitled Void of the Vile. Nevertheless, I’m here to say a few words on band’s third instalment called Death Storms. The album consists of eights tracks (incl. the short “Outro”) and reaches just about 30 minutes of playing time. Due to the short nature of this material, there’s no place for boredom. Given the background of Mr. Pettersson, it’s easy to guess what to expect from Death Storms, and Human Harvest in general, a dense, heavy and straightforward death metal with some occassional doom and grind-core influences.

The sound utilized on this record employs heavily distorted and low-tuned guitars, with a general tone that is thick and a bit murky. The bass has this massive round tone, while the aforementioned drums sounds very intense, punchy and organic. Last but not least we have the vocals that are deep and harsh, mostly growling and just… massive.

The production sounds powerful, dark and pretty tight. In other words; it’s a well balanced mix. Two of the stand-out tracks for me are namely; the ruthless title track “Death Storms” and “A Crushing Void” which is a collosal and bone-crushing mid-tempo death metal assault.

In conclusion; Death Storms is basically half an hour of intense, severe and relentless sonic punishment. Recommended for all fans of straightforward relentless death metal savagery.
