Greengoat – A.I.

Heavy, meaty grooves. The first track “A.I.” is right out of the Black Sabbath heavy metal forge. Sparks of Orange Goblin and Nebula mixed in the metal alchemy. A slow, sludge, pumping mechanical drumbeats. A solid lead track.

The third track, “Burn the End” intro is a heavy funk groove. The rhythm and distortion, shades of Cathedral circa “Ethereal Mirror”. A fusion of the raw rock fused with hints of NYHC. This one’s growing on me, after a few listens.

The next song, “Human” kicks up the NYHC sounds. The vocals are gritty, raw. Smash up Helmet and Black Sabbath is the feel on this one. The guitar work in the bridge section goes right into the heavy funk. I envision the audience pogoing to this song live.

The more I listen to the songs on this set, it’s checking all the heavy metal boxes. Definitely an album of the month contender. There are a couple tracks not quite delivering the level of energy. Call it creative license.

The Spanish duo formed in 2021. Their debut album is a solid slab of rock n roll. 21st century commercial radio could earn some serious street cred spinning these European rockers. On second thought, keep playing the same five bands ad nauseum. Promising bands like Greengoat will be better for it. The future is bright for the duo.
