Grave Heresy is a Death/Black Metal quartet hailing from an at time of writing unknown part of Sweden – Likewise, I have so far been unable to determine exactly when the band was formed. What I have been able to discern however, is that their first (and so far, only) release Incineration Victory, a nine tracks long Full-length was released at the beginning of this year.

Musically, the forty minutes worth of content on this release is pretty much par for the course of the genre as I have stated numerous times in the past – It is fast-paced, with the tempo with set with relentless blast beat drums and with both the guitars and bas-riffs following suit all the while the menacing growls of the lead singer is layered on top. And while this approach did produce a few uncut gems (my personal favourite on the album being the track “Ageless Onslaught” which more than lives up to its title), overall Grave Heresy sadly does very little to set themselves apart from the rest of the ore mine, as it were; Namely that while I most certainly enjoyed the track mentioned above, even after having given this record numerous spins across the month, it really is the only track that sticks with me to an extent that I would be able to remember it or even request it unprompted when out an about in my daily life.

All in all, Grave Heresy is one of the few bands I would say has the chance of becoming quite the name within their chosen genre, something I state despite my, by now well-documented, dislike for the mixed genres overall as well as the fact that I consider this particular constellation significantly oversaturated, likewise something I have claimed several times in the past.

Nevertheless, the sheer raw aggression that the band puts on display when correctly motivated rivals that of bands such as early Anaal Nathrakh and Marduk – Hence my recommendation of this album to fans of either of these.
