Austrian Metal News – The Power Of The Heavy Thrasher Vol. 2

Running Wild Productions (a non-profit label) & Mr. Rainer has done it again, released another very interesting CD-sampler. It’s entitled Austrian Metal News – The Power Of The Heavy Thrasher Vol. 2 and it, as its moniker would suggest, features 20 Austrian bands, delivering one song each. It’s also second edition where we’re presented to a compilation which exclusively deals with local metal bands from the Alps.

It’s a bit tricky to review this particular release since it features 20 bands (21 tracks). I can only speak in general terms and tell, what separates this second from the first edition is the fact that first edition primarily focused on the black/death underground bands, while this new edition is more dedicated to a wide range of melodic/symphonic, power, heavy and thrash metal acts. Now, I’ve not had the opportunity to listen to the first edition in the time of its initial release, but what I can tell from listening to second edition on three different occasions now, is that it’s varied and dynamic.

The Power Of The Heavy Thrasher Vol. 2 comes on a pressed silver disc with full color label art and an additional 6-page booklet to introduce the participating bands. Production is top-notch, not that I expected nothing less from Running Wild Productions

The Power Of The Heavy Thrasher Vol. 2 is packed with almost 80 minutes of high-class heavy/thrash/power metal which I can recommend to any metal fan who wants to know more bands from Austria, other than the well-known names such as Edenbridge & Visions Of Atlantis or other bigs acts signed to major labels.

It’s obvious that Rainer & his Running Wild Productions have put a lot of energy into this project and therefore my eternal thanks and thumbs-up go to the creator of this release Rainer, for providing me with this excellent CD sampler and giving me the unique opportunity to write a few words about it!

Expect nothing else but a true metal blast while listening to this nice sampler provided by many emerging Austrian bands/projects and a couple of more established acts. The Power Of The Heavy Thrasher Vol. 2 at least provides a great overview of the vivid and vibrant Austrian Metal scene.
