Resistance is an extreme metal band from Brussels (Belgium), founded in 2004. The band released its debut album Trauma in 2006 and a follow-up Two Sides Of A Modern World in 2008. Thirds album Lords Of Torment was released shortly after which was received very well by the fans and media. In January 2012 the band released this latest 10-tracker offering To Judge And Enslave.
On To Judge And Enslave there is a guest appearance by Leif Jensen (Dew-Scented). The band is labelling their music as ‘modern death metal’ and one can hear many modern death metal influences. It is like this Belgium quintet is getting away from their pure metal core roots towards modern death metal. Thus, most of the 10 compositions presented on this opus are quite catchy and atmospheric with this gore feeling to it. The vocals are harsh, thrashy, brutal and screaming, while their handling of the instruments is superb; being powerful, pummelling and strong.
After two additional spins in my stereo, I finally realized what it takes to take your band to a higher level. Resistance has just done so with To Judge And Enslave which sounds mature and professional.
Esp. recommended for fans of Vader, Kataklysm, Meshuggah, Heaven Shall Burn, Gojira, Machine Head, Dew-Scented etc.
