MS Metal Records, 2011
A couple of years ago our readers had a chance to get familiar with a music created by this unique musical conjunction - Dynahead. Antigen was their debut offering that I was quite surprised by. Now, it is time to unleash an always hard successor entitled YOUniverse.
YOUniverse is a concept album, a metaphorical tale that, according to the band, unites the human condition and the evolution of the Universe. The overall subject is birth, life and death. Both lyrically and musically speaking it is a very mature album. YOUniverse manages to drag the listener into the world of this Brazilian quintet, which is something not many bands are capable of.
First noticeable thing is the beautiful atmosphere and modern production. This 11-tracker has many beautiful and softer moments, but most of the time it is about heavy and modern riffing, powerful vocals, intense drumming and adventurous bass-lines. To times the band also incorporates the acoustic guitar parts adding yet another dimension to their music. The latter thing maybe best exemplified in the song called “Circles” which I enjoyed a lot.
Dynahead has delivered a true piece of art with YOUniverse. It shows a unique band, ready to challenge your ears and take them to unexplored places in the underground music. Must listen, esp. if you’re into Sepultura, Textures, System Of A Down, David Townsend and similar giants of the progressive & heavy scene. Contact info: http://www.dynahead.com.br/
