Napalm Records, 29th August 2008
Dignity is yet another young (formed in 2006) band from Austria. Project Destiny is their debut album with Swedish singer Jake E. on vocals. According to their label Napalm Records it is piece of ‘melodic hard rock’ and this description fits only partly to the style that Dignity performs. You can say that with this 9-tracker debut Dignity tries to step on various stones. Sometimes it sounds exactly as what it is; Symphonic & Melodic European metal, and other times it sounds more like a row and heavy metal act. No matter how; this album has numerous tempo changes, a lot of melody and first and foremost notable vocals by Mr. Jake E. The album is also somehow moody and with this dramatic path and arrangements that are simply perfect. The use of keyboards adds only an extra dimension to this theatrical concept. Best songs in my opinion are “Project Destiny” and “Don’t Pay the Ferryman” by Chris de Burgh. This album is perfect; actually it is too perfect and almost too polished for my taste. It has everything what you may expect from a metal release, yet it brings nothing new to a table. Esp. recommended for the fans of Edenbridge, Royal Hunt, Dreamland & Masterplan.
