Here at Metal Revolution we've decided to employ yet another assistant writer for various reasons. This is so far first of many changes that will occur in the coming months.
Usually, we introduce our new writers by writing a few words on his/her life and work. This time we do it a bit different. Bato decided to interview our new member Thor, so here's your chance to get to know our new staff member a bit better. Bato: Hey Thor; please introduce yourself shortly. Thor: Heya. I'm the newest assistant writer on Metal Revolution. I'm from Denmark.
Bato: Why have you decided to apply for a job as a writer for Metal Revolution? Thor: Music is a vital part of my life; I never leave the house without bringing headphones and an mp3-player. On top of that, I've always had an affection for writing --- fiction, non-fiction, journalism, translating and the like --- so when I found out Metal Revolution was short-staffed, I took it as an opportunity to combine some of my main interests.
Bato: What are your expectations as a writer? Thor: I expect to have my eyes opened to bands, CDs and labels I otherwise would have missed out on. I also hope that my stint on the site will help me evolve as a writer and critic.
Bato: What are your favourite metal genres and what your favourite bands? Thor: I consider myself open-minded. I'm primarily into music that is unconventional, complex and, above all, well-crafted, but I do have quite a few guilty pleasures on my playlist that in no way live up to those criteria. Progressive and avant-garde are the metal genres I have been dabbling in the most as of recent times, though. Dream Theater has been my favourite band for the past five years.
Bato: What do you do beside of writing for MR? Thor: Besides writing for Metal Revolution? I procrastinate, mainly. I take Japanese lessons every Friday and I drum on occassion.
Bato: Your strengths and weaknesses? Thor: My strong side is a diverse taste in music --- plus relative literacy and decent penmanship, of course. As for weaknesses, it tends to take a while for an album to truly grow on me. Bato: What can our readers expect from your pen? Thor: In time, words of wisdom and rules to live by. For now, however, I hope you'll settle with articles that might pique your interest in certain bands and albums.
Bato: Last words of introduction? Anything you would like us to know about you that I haven’t asked you about? Thor: I believe all bases have been covered. If any of you have questions or comments, feel free to email me at thor[at]metal-revolution.com.
Oh, and if you happen to have a burning desire to join the Thor-fanclub, please send your mails to Cherie at thehereticdevine[at]hotmail.com
